Room to Breathe Organizing helps you declutter, organize, and rightsize your home — with simple systems that last — throughout Providence, RI, surrounding communities, and the Outer Cape.
Whether you're tackling your own home or helping someone you love, here are the answers to what clients ask most: where to start, how to decide what stays, how to keep things organized, how the work gets done, and more.
Still have questions?
Get started with a free 30-minute call and let's talk.
Start with the single space that frustrates you most. For example, your hall closet, primary bathroom, or one area of your garage. Clearing that space first gives you a quick, visible win – and a sense of lightness and control you can feel immediately.
Plus, that relief builds momentum. And momentum is what carries you into the next space, and the next – clearing and organizing as you go – which is exhilarating once it gets rolling!
If you have the time, clarity, and discipline to declutter and organize your own home, that can be a deeply satisfying experience.
But most people don't know where to begin. They're often too attached to their belongings to be fully objective. They become exhausted by the decision making. Or life is simply too full to give a project like this the sustained attention it requires. And while family and friends could help, their differing opinions can make decisions harder.
A professional organizer, on the other hand, brings a neutral perspective, a proven process, and full attention to your home and your decisions. Which means real momentum, decisions you actually feel good about, and more progress in one session than most people make alone in weeks.
No. Every home tells the story of a busy life, shifting priorities, and unexpected challenges. Clutter is just what happens when life moves faster than your systems can keep up.
My role is to provide compassionate, expert support that helps you move forward, so you can experience the joy of a lighter, well-organized home.
Not at all. Some clients have years of accumulated belongings to sort through, while others simply have spaces that no longer work well for the way they live today.
Professional organizing can help you simplify what you own and create a calmer, more functional, easier-to-manage home.
Many clients start with a single space – a bedroom, garage, basement, or kitchen – usually whichever one is causing the most daily frustration. Once you feel what it's like to have that one space working for you, it's common to want to keep going through the rest of the home.
Absolutely. We can work through your entire home – or declutter and organize one space and, if you wish, build from there.
Either way, we'll prioritize the spaces that matter most and create a plan that fits your goals, budget, and timeline.
The best way to prepare is to be excited. Getting this support is such a gift you're giving yourself, in terms of time and energy back for what you really love.
If you feel the need to do something, take a few minutes each day imagining the clear, organized space you'll have when we're done!
The real question isn't "keep or toss" — it's does this serve the life I'm living today?
Working room by room and category by category (e.g., clothing, books, collectibles, hobby gear, fitness equipment), I help you separate what you actually use, need, and value from what's weighing you down, so your home becomes lighter and easier to manage.
Heirlooms and sentimental belongings can be the hardest part of any organizing project. Because they're often tied to important memories, relationships, and past chapters, letting them go can bring up very real feelings of grief and loss. That emotional attachment is completely normal.
To help you move through those treasures, we take time to honor what they meant to you, then decide what earns a place in your home today. And when you do decide to part with something, I help you explore the best way to pass it along, so the decision brings peace instead of guilt.
I'm happy to suggest charitable organizations that will accept your items. Depending on the items and your package, I can take a carload of donations at the end of our session to lighten your home immediately. If you have a large amount of donations, I can recommend organizations that will pick up your donations.
Before anything is removed, we’ll review the items together so we’re both completely clear about what you’ve decided to release. This extra step protects you and gives you peace of mind – especially during a large project when many belongings may be moving in different directions. Nothing leaves your home for donation without your knowledge and approval.
Usually not. My first priority is helping you declutter so we can organize what you keep more effectively. Then I’ll help you repurpose containers you already own or have freed up in the process to keep things tidy and easy to maintain.
If getting new products would make your space easier to maintain, I'll recommend them. Depending on your package, I can help you shop for the best products that meet your needs and aesthetic.
It depends on the size of the room, area, or home, how much is in it, how quickly you make decisions, and your goals for the project. Some clients finish a single room or area in one or two sessions; others work gradually through an entire home over several months.
During your consultation, we'll map out a plan that fits your priorities, schedule, and budget, so you know what to expect going in.
The goal isn’t just to declutter your home – it’s to create simple, practical systems you can maintain and rely on to keep things organized. They’re designed around how you actually live, making it easier to find what you need and keep your home organized after we’ve finished.
That being said, life happens, seasons change, and you may want help to sort new clutter and refresh your systems. You can always call me back when you need a reset!
One of the most loving gifts you can give your family is to begin rightsizing your belongings while you're fully in control of the process. Doing so relieves loved ones from facing hundreds — or even thousands — of difficult decisions about your things after you're gone, along with the physical burden of removing them.
And by taking care of this critical task now, you'll have the peace of mind of knowing your treasures found their way to people who really want and appreciate them.
I offer 6-, 12-, and 24-hour packages, priced at $495, $995, and $1,995, respectivley. With package pricing, you know exactly what you're investing upfront, rather than working with an open-ended hourly rate that can make the final cost harder to predict.
You also stay in control of how your project unfolds.
For instance, you can start with one space and one package. If you have a larger project – like a garage and basement – you can add packages until it's complete. If you want to get your project done as soon as possible it done as soon as possible, you can choose a larger package from the start to reserve the days and times you need to meet your goals.
During your consultation, we'll talk through your goals and timeline, and I'll recommend the best place to begin.
Bottom line? You have the flexibility to move at the pace that's right for you!
I work with clients throughout Providence, Rhode Island, and surrounding communities, as well as Cape Cod, Massachusetts, with a focus on the Outer Cape.
